ARGUROUPOLI
It is a village built at an altitude of 260 meters, 30 kilometers southwest of the city of Rethymno. Characteristic of the area are the famous springs of Argyroupolis. It is a beautiful place with running waters and green vegetables , from which the Muselas River originates. The springs there are worth a visit and the locals have created various dining venues to serve visitors.
Anogia is located 52 km southeast of Rethymnon at an altitude of 750 m. In Anogia you can visit the old churches of Agios Georgios, Agios Dimitrios and Agios Ioannis. Also, you definitely need enjoy your coffee at the cafes and the traditional Cretan cuisine in the village taverns. MONASTERY OF PREVELLIS
The Preveli Monastery is located in a beautiful location 37 kilometers from the city of Rethymnon on the west side of the great river. The complex is divided into two sections, the lower monastery of Prodromos and the rear monastery of Theologos, which are 1.7 km away. Preveli is also known for the Holy Cross, considered to be miraculous. In the monastery operates a museum where sacred heirlooms and pictures are displayed.
Kaloniktis is located 15 km southwest of Rethymnon, built on the hill of Nikephoros. In Kalinyxtis there is a mill that is considered a Venetian building, the building is maintained without running. Besides the church of Panagia there is the old church of the Catholic style, Michael Archangelos at the Monastiri Metochi site.
